Valued: Valuing the Love of God

Paul urges the followers of Jesus to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which we have been called through love. To understand love, we need to look to the author of love, God—the one who called us by his steadfast love shown toward us.

God created love and placed the emotion of love within every heart. We have within us the capability to love one another and to express our love to God. If we can get even a slight understanding of the vastness of God’s love and learn to place more value in it, then we can practice this kind of love that Paul describes.

The deeper our love for God, the more profound love we can show to others.

Love is the fuel to any ministry. Without it, love can’t endure all things.

The ingredients contained in the fuel are in 1 Corinthians 13:4-8

Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends.

The Love that Paul is speaking of comes from the love of God and is a gift from God, just as the spiritual gifts were given to us by him. You can’t earn the love of God; it’s a gift from God through Jesus Christ.
