Psalm 119: Where is God?

Where is God? That is a question you will most likely hear someone ask when tragedy strikes.

In today’s episode, we will answer this question as we look at the Psalmist’s response in Psalm 119 and the life of Job in the Bible. We will look at Psalm 119:49:56 during today’s message.

  • Where is God? – God is present even when the godly experience affliction.

God blessed Job because of his lifestyle. He chose to conduct his life with actions that honored God. Job walked blameless, not sinless before God, because all have sinned and fall short of God’s standard. Job held highly to God’s standard and would flee at the first sight of evil.

  • Where is God? Remind ourselves of God’s presence.

The Psalmist did this by reminding himself of the promises that God gave the people of Israel, including himself.

Vs 49 Remember your promise to me; it is my only hope. (NLT) Vs 50: Your promises revive me: your word comforts me during my troubles.

  • The Psalmist responds to God by not turning away.

Vs 51 “The insolent utterly deride me, but I do not turn away from your law. 52 When I think of your rules from of old, I take comfort, O Lord. 53 Hot indignation seizes me because of the wicked, who forsake your law.

  • The Psalmist responds to God through song, remembrance of God’s name, and blessings.

54 Your statutes have been my songs in the house of my sojourning. 55 I remember your name in the night, O Lord, and keep your law. 56 This blessing has fallen to me, that I have kept your precepts.

Where is God? As Christian’s, we can confidently say that God is residing in our hearts!
