Origins

We all love to hear origin stories. Everything from cultures to nations, from superheroes to businesses, and even the origin of man has origin stories. The Abiding in the Faith podcast has an origin that began with a thought which became a reality.

When I was in seminary, I was taking a class on teaching and preaching. One of the assignments in the course was for us to write a paper on how we, as young pastors, will create opportunities to get experience teaching and preaching. At the time, I was beginning to listen to podcasts of preachers that have impacted my Christian walk over time. One of the thoughts that I had was to create a Bible teaching podcast to create an opportunity to preach the gospel.

During this same season of my life, I was beginning to write a book about walking with God and what it meant to follow God closely. There are times in our Christian walk where we are close to God, walking right beside him, and other times where we feel like God is not close to us. We read the stories in the Bible of how Moses, Noah, and Enoch walked with God. These are ordinary men, each with faults, but all who had a close relationship with God and walked alongside him.  Each one walked in a manner that was pleasing to the Lord. Apostle Paul wrote in Colossians 1:10 that as Christians, we need “to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him: bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God.”

As I am learning how to walk with God closer, I uncover God’s truth within the Bible that I want to share with others. So why not create a podcast to teach God’s word as I allow God’s word to teach me. The Abiding in the Faith Podcast went through different name changes before the podcast was launched. I considered walking in a manner and walking in the faith before I decided to name the podcast abiding in the faith. To abide means to remain. As we walk with Christ, we need to remain in him, so the podcast was formed.

I hope, and prayer is that this podcast can be informative and positive. A place where a Christian can listen and gain insight on walking with Christ in a manner worthy of the Lord and a place where the non-believer can learn about who Jesus Christ is.

Thank you to everyone who had a profound effect on my Christian life over the years, especially Jesus Christ, who, without him as my Lord and personal savior, would none of this be possible.

By listening to the Abiding in the Faith podcast, I hope that you will be blessed and challenged in your Christian walk.

Pastor Jason Paul.
