Ministry Moment: Highlights and Close Calls

Message points
  • Paul walked with God

Paul had a lot of highlights and close calls as we walked with God.

  • Paul Experienced the Hand of God on his life

God would same Paul from many close calls as he shared the gospel

  • Paul knew his Audience

We need to know who our audience is as we share the gospel.

  • Paul had a message

Paul would share his testimony and shared the good news to his audience that Jesus Christ was the Messiah and came to save them from their sins.

Acts 28:23: “From morning till evening he expounded to them, testifying to the kingdom of God and trying to convince them about Jesus both from the Law of Moses and from the Prophets.”

Some listened and became believers while others rejected Paul’s message

Acts 28:24-27

24 And some were convinced by what he said, but others disbelieved. 25 And disagreeing among themselves, they departed after Paul had made one statement: “The Holy Spirit was right in saying to your fathers through Isaiah the prophet:

26 “‘Go to this people, and say,
“You will indeed hear but never understand,
and you will indeed see but never perceive.”
27 For this people’s heart has grown dull,
and with their ears they can barely hear,
and their eyes they have closed;
lest they should see with their eyes
and hear with their ears
and understand with their heart
and turn, and I would heal them.’

  • Paul was determined to continue to preach the gospel.

ACTS 28: 28, 30-31

28 Therefore let it be known to you that this salvation of God has been sent to the Gentiles; they will listen.”

30 He lived there two whole years at his own expense, and welcomed all who came to him, 31 proclaiming the kingdom of God and teaching about the Lord Jesus Christ with all boldness and without hindrance.

Paul proclaimed the kingdom of God and taught about Jesus with boldness and without hindrance. Nothing came in the way that would hinder him from preaching the gospel, not even close calls.

Paul even through he was a hindered prisoner in Rome was preaching the unhindered word of God. God’s word will continue to be shared and the gospel heard.

What hinders you from sharing your faith in Jesus? Do you feel ill prepared or maybe not qualified.

Maybe its fear- Not knowing what to say, or to have a conversation.

  • Unprepared: Get prepared

1 Peter 3:18 NIV

But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect.

  • Have Gospel tracks on you.
  • Share your testimony.

The message of the gospel is a sweet fragrance to some but a dreadful one for others,

2 Corinthians 2:16

To those who are perishing, we are a dreadful smell of death and doom. But to those who are being saved, we are a life-giving perfume. And who is adequate for such a task as this?

None of us are adequate for such a task as this without being in fellowship with God. When you have Jesus Christ in your life as savior and Lord, he qualifies you and makes you adequate to preach the word.

  • God does not call the qualified but qualifies the called. Will you have an open and ready heart to be used by God.

2 Corinthians 3:4-6

We are confident of all this because of our great trust in God through Christ. 5 It is not that we think we are qualified to do anything on our own. Our qualification comes from God. 6 He has enabled us to be ministers of his new covenant. This is a covenant not of written laws, but of the Spirit. The old written covenant ends in death; but under the new covenant, the Spirit gives life.

Another Highlight happened at the Harvest Crusade, Saturday evening, July 20, 2024 at Angel Stadium in California. Evangelist Greg Laurie preached the gospel and thousands of people came down to the field to say the sinners prayer and to accept the Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.

Heaven has a party when one sinner repents and chooses to follow Jesus Christ.

Greg preached the same gospel that Paul preached. And as believers in Jesus, our message is the same.

Will you join me in continuing to share the gospel of Jesus Christ?

You may experience some danger and close calls, but God is not done with us.
